NANCY CAROL CURTIS (Age 74)

Of Wheaton, MD passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016. Beloved mother of Teresa (Tim) Magruder, Kelly (Jeff) Spurgeon, Steven (Erika) Curtis and Stacy Rouse; dear sister of Donna, Mickey, Robert, Jerry and Kenny; cherished grandmother of Joseph, Ryan, Kristopher, CJ, Kody, Krista, Taylor, Alexa, Dylan, Colin and Diana and great-grandmother of Christopher, Ella, Kadyn, Landon and Logan. Also survived by her adored nieces and nephews; extended Presgraves family, as well as a host of additional loving family and treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Merle Guiffre; sister, Diane O’Conor; former husband, Roger Curtis and long-time companion, Daniel Presgraves. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, September 1 at Montgomery United Methodist Church, 28325 Kemptown Road, Damascus, MD 20872 from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Graveside service at Parklawn Cemetery, Rockville, MD with reception immediately following. SUE GOING BAILEY (Age 79)

On Friday, August 26, 2016, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved daughter of the late William C. and the late Mary Chandler Going; wife of the late Frank Robert Bailey; mother of Dr. Christopher (Katherine) Bailey and Susan (Jonathan) Lamb; grandmother of Hannah, Michael and Lydia Bailey, and Laura, William and Jake Lamb. She was a charter member of Montgomery Hills Baptist Church, a 1955 graduate of Montgomery Blair High School and a charter member of the North Silver Springs Lions Club. Relatives and friends may call at Montgomery Hills Baptist Church, 9727 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910 on Friday, September 2 from 10 to 11 a.m., where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. Meghan O’Callaghan Abell (Age 38)

Of Washington, DC, having endured breast cancer for nearly two years, passed from this life to the next on Saturday, August 27, 2016, while in the arms of her loving parents and siblings.

Meghan attended Blessed Sacrament School and was a graduate of Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart and the University of Maryland University College.  She assisted the disabled, elderly, and mentally infirm at various facilities during her career and enjoyed friendships with nearly all she met—such clear evidence of her sweet and accepting disposition.

Meghan is survived by her parents, Christopher and Patricia Abell; her older sisters Alicia (Will) and Hilary (William) and her younger brother Christopher, Jr.  In addition, she leaves behind her adoring nieces and nephews: Madeline, Jack, Lucy and Lila Peppo; and Nate, Nell, and Connor Bednarz.

A wake for Meghan will be held at the chapel of Mater Dei School, 9600 Seven Locks Road, Bethesda, MD 20817 on Tuesday, August 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Western Ave. at Quesada St. NW, Washington, DC 20015 on Wednesday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Potomac, MD.  In lieu of flowers, please consider an act of open friendliness to a new acquaintance (something Meghan did so well) or a donation in memory of Meghan Abell to support metastatic breast cancer sent to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. John T. Pertino (Age 92)

On Tuesday, August 23, 2016, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Doris I. Pertino and the late Mary DeGraba Pertino, father of John C. Pertino and Mary Catherine Tennyson, grandfather of Kristin Pertino, and Amanda and Laura Schmidt; brother of the late Sereno, Mary, Amelia, Frances, and Sammy. Also survived by nieces, nephews and family members. A native of Washington D.C., John was a US Navy veteran of WWII. After the war, John became the owner/operator of Kensington Shoe Repair for more than 30 years.  John Francis Loome, Jr. (Age 75)

 Of Tampa, FL passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016. He was born May 16, 1941 in Dallas, TX, the son of Florence (néeMcCarron) and John Francis Loome, Sr. John was a graduate of Loyola Blakefield, Mt. St. Mary’s College and University of Baltimore Law School. He worked for 28 years as an FBI Special Agent, notably in the Cleveland, Washington and Tampa offices. He was a proud member of Tampa Palms Country Club and the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Capt. James Loome, USN; and his son, Mark Loome. Survivors include his wife Mary Eileen Loome; sons, Dr. John Loome, III (Heather) of Washington, DC, Kevin Loome (Lisa) of Philadelphia, PA and Brian Loome of Roswell, GA; his sister, Sister Patricia Loome, SND of Athens, GA; and five grandchildren, Jack, Olivia, Henry, Devin and Harrison. The family will receive friends, 7-9 p.m., Monday, August 29th at Francis J. Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. W, Silver Spring, MD 20901. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated, 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 30th at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 3630 Quesada St NW, Washington, DC 20015. Armande Francis “Dadu” Condillac (Age 76)

(Elaine) Condillac and Tanya (Philip) Su. Grandfather of Sarah and Adam Sadozai, Mariah and Savannah Patterson, Caleb and Chloe Su, and Gabriel, Emma and Matthew Condillac. Alice Hindle Combs Shackelford (Age 85)

Alice Combs Shackelford, formerly of Silver Spring, MD, passed away on August 20, 2016, while she was a resident of Kline Hospice House of Frederick County, MD. She was preceded in death by her husbands; Eugene Frank Combs (43 years) and Robert L. Shackelford (15 years). Survivors include; her son Donald I. Combs (and wife Flo) of Mt. Airy, MD, and grandchildren Christopher Combs (Stormie), Craig Combs (Ali), and Jessica Combs Malatt (Tom), and great grandchildren Shelby Combs and Evelyn Combs, her sisters, Margaret B. Bell of Silver Spring, MD and Mary M. Hines of Chesapeake, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews and stepchildren.
